Many parents are concerned about whether or not homeschoolers will be missing out on college scholarships and this is simply not the case. In fact, college scholarships abound for homeschoolers! Schools are seeing how dedicated and academically adept homeschoolers truly are (test scores show this over and over again that homeschoolers out perform public schooled children) and colleges are responding in turn and offering generous scholarships.
Many scholarships are based on academics. Parents provide the transcripts (grades) which in turn create the GPA. Many scholarships also require a certain SAT or ACT score as well. Read the details on each scholarship.
As part of HLSPV you will receive free college counseling. We also offer many classes where you can receive college credit (AP courses). Here is a list of scholarships readily available to homeschoolers:
ACU (Arizona Christian University)
ACU’s generous scholarships are accessible by all based on GPA and test scores.
AFHE (Arizona Families for Home Education)
AFHE (our statewide homeschool organization) awards scholarships to homeschool students graduating from high school toward their post-secondary education. Click the link to apply.
ASU (Arizona State University)
Homeschoolers are welcome to apply for ASU’s scholarship program like any other student. Scholarships are based on GPA and test scores.
GCU Alpha Program (Grand Canyon University – AZ)
Alpha stands for: Alliance Program for Homeschool Achievement
Scholarship Opportunities through Grand Canyon University (AZ):
- GRAND CANYON STATE UNIVERSITY GRANT.ALPHA high school students (grades 9-12) who are accepted to attend Grand Canyon University will receive a $1,000 GCU grant. The grant is divided into $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester as long as the student maintains the minimum GPA requirements.
- DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP FOR PARTICIPANTS. ALPHA participants will have access to an exclusive 10% scholarship for their group’s members and governing board members, providing savings toward tuition and fees for online undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degree programs at GCU.
- CONTINUING EDUCATION/SINGLE COURSE SCHOLARSHIP. ALPHA participants will have access to a 10% scholarship for their group’s members and governing board members, providing savings for nondegree single courses and continuing teacher education courses.
- SCHOLARSHIP FOR SPOUSES. Exclusive 5% scholarship for spouses of ALPHA group’s members and governing board members*, providing savings toward tuition and fees for online undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degree programs at GCU.
